From The Ashes
Most of us do a frame-up restoration because the Jeep is just too far gone to make building it back up worthwhile. Holly Hladycz of Grasonville, Maryland, did her frame-up out of spite. After working for seven years to build a nice little '79 CJ-7, some vandals lit it on fire and basically burned it to the ground. Now it's got a 4.6L inline-six, an NV4500, a 4.3:1 Atlas transfer case, a M.O.R.E. shackle reversal, a Currie high-pinion Dana 44 front axle, and a high-pinion Tera 60 rear with 35-spline axleshafts. The wheelbase was stretched with XJ-spec Alcan springs (for the offset center-pin design), and Cut Boggers wrapped around Marsh Racing Wheels.

With just 4 inches of lift, Nick Rodrigues of Ripon, California, was able to fit 38.5-inch Super Swampers under his '07 four-door JK. The 3.8L V-6 still provides power, and the NP241OR transfer case makes wheeling bearable until he can get some lower gears for his front and rear Dana 44s. A 4-inch Skyjacker lift and some trimming were all that was needed to clear the monster tires. The flenders were tossed in favor of a full exo-cage, and Nick tries to get out there and wheel his new Jeep every weekend he can.
Steamboat SporTruck
Jacob Thaden of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, owns this really clean '88 Comanche SporTruck. It has the inline-six, five-speed manual transmission and NP231 transfer case sending power out to the stock front Dana 30 and rear Dana 35. A 3-inch Skyjacker lift provides more than enough clearance for Super Swamper Trxus Radials in a 31x10.50 size wrapped around some Mickey Thompson Classic Lock II rims. It was built to be a good, reliable, off-road trail rig while still pulling highway duties.
